The first meeting of the European Education Committee under the Belgian Presidency will take place on the 1st and 2nd July 2010 in Ostend. During this conference, the Belgian Presidency will present its programme and working method. The programme contains a number of important points that deserve special attention, such as learning mobility, education in the field of sustainable development, schools in the 21st century, social inclusion, quality assurance and transparency within the European education system.

The European Education Committee is the council working group that prepares decisions for the European Education Ministers. The first meeting of the education committee under the Belgian presidency will be held on the 1st and 2nd of July 2010 in Ostend, when the Belgian presidency’s programme and approach will be presented. The presidency has called for attention on a number of priorities, including mobility, education for sustainable development, social inclusion and schools for the 21st century, with particular emphasis on key competences and drop-out prevention. The European Education Committee will, in conclusion, also assess the progress made on the Copenhagen process for European cooperation in vocational education and training.
