Mobility of European citizens, youth and adults, is essential to their personal development and to increase their employability on the labour market. In cooperation with the European Commission’s Directorate General for Education and Culture, the Belgian EU Presidency organises a conference that will thoroughly examine the challenges in the field of European and global mobility. The Europe 2020 flagship initiative “Youth on the Move” will receive ample attention. About 450 participants from all over Europe will participate in this conference.

Learning mobility is essential in each stage of the life of European citizens, whether young people or adults, both for their personal development and to enhance their employability. Mobility experience is fundamental for acquiring and developing language skills and intercultural capabilities – qualities that are also recognised by employers. From this perspective, mobility strengthens European competitiveness and constitutes an important building block of the European knowledge economy. This ever-topical subject remains high on the current European agenda.
In cooperation with the European Commission’s Directorate General for Education and Culture, the Belgian EU Presidency is organising a conference to thoroughly examine the challenges of European and global mobility. This conference will be held on the 5th and 6th of October in the Radisson Blu Astrid hotel (Antwerp), and will consist of plenary sessions and workshops.
In addition to the results of the Green Paper on promoting the learning mobility of young people, the Europe 2020 flagship initiative “Youth on the Move” will be addressed. The workshops deal with various aspects of mobility such as incentives, financing, types, quality, mobility and employability on the labour market, global mobility, the involvement of personnel in mobility and the implementation of the European Credit Transfer System/Diploma Supplement (ECTS/DS).
