Welcome to the website of the Belgian EU Presidency for Education!
As Flemish Minister for Education I am pleased to present, together with our European partners,
the Belgian agenda regarding the debates and conferences about the priorities which we have put forward for education.
We seek to clearly profile the Belgian Presidency in the coming months and leave our mark on the ongoing policy processes regarding education and training.
We regard education as the primary driving force in the fight against poverty and the enhancement of equal opportunities. The dynamism and vigour that Flanders has shown when implementing the Bologna process for higher education and the Copenhagen process for vocational education and training are prominent in Europe. Foreign work and learning experiences reinforce skills and prepare young people for tomorrow’s European and Flemish labour markets, including young people from vocational and technical education. This process should be promoted and further developed.
Together, we can look forward to the upcoming inspiring events, the building blocks of a further innovative education policy with a European dimension.
